Meet our new talents! Stefan Andrusyschyn, 40, and Denise Leigh, 53, are an extraordinary husband-and-wife duo who have mesmerized the world with their performances on Britain's Got Talent.
Stefan and Denise are both blind and have overcome numerous challenges to share their exceptional musical talents with the world. Stefan was born without eyes, a condition he describes as complete blindness without even light perception. Denise has retinitis pigmentosa, a group of genetic disorders that cause retinal degeneration. Despite this, their musical talent has remained undiminished. Denise is a soprano, while Stefan is a Pianist.
Their story began 18 years ago in a serendipitous encounter on a train. Both were headed to an awards ceremony where Denise was to present, and Stefan was the pianist for the evening. Unbeknownst to them, this chance meeting—where Stefan humorously asked Denise for the time—was the beginning of a profound journey together, united by love and a shared passion for music.
Their performance of "Climb Every Mountain" from The Sound of Music on Britain's Got Talent was a standout moment, showcasing Denise's powerful vocals and Stefan's emotive piano accompaniment. The performance moved the judges and audience to tears, with Judge Bruno Tonioli leading a standing ovation and praising their positivity and humor in the face of challenges. Simon Cowell lauded their attitude and talent, highlighting them as exemplary figures of what the show aims to celebrate.
Beyond their remarkable performances, Stefan and Denise's story is a testament to resilience and the triumph of the human spirit. Denise has bravely battled and overcome cancer, adding another layer of strength to their inspiring narrative. Denise and Stefan’s child together, Dimitri, 10 also has retinitis pigmentosa too and they found out when he was just a year old. They also have 3 older children from Denise’s earlier marriage; Rebecca, 30, Michael, 28 and Sam, 26 who are all extremely supportive of Denise and Stefan’s career
